Get Involved!
When people ask me how they can help, I always ask them "how do you want to help?" Would you like to join a committee, plan a special event, make a donation to the agency or possibly commit to something more long-term, such as an endowment or legacy? Would you like to name a program or a building? There are numerous ways in which someone can help through donations of time, talents and, of course, treasures. All of these gifts will ultimately enhance the well being of a child that walks through our doors.
A certified 501(C) 3, not for profit agency, South Shore Child Guidance Center provides services and programs to an underserved population. Many services are funded by Nassau County and NY State with additional funding being made by private donations, major gifts and fundraising. Currently seeing over 500 children and families a year, totaling over 10,000 visits, there is sadly a waiting list due to the limitations of funding. How do you tell a child to wait? Unthinkable!
Like our Board President, Len Kaufman, says "Every Day is A Great Day to Help a Child" - well I hope today is your Day and so do the children.
Volunteer at the 2009 U.S. Open while Raising Funds for South Shore Child Guidance Center
S.S.C.G.C. has accepted an offer to staff a food concession tent with volunteers at the 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage State Park (Black Course), Farmingdale, NY from June 15th 'til June 21st.
Our agency will be compensated for each 6-7 hour shift a "volunteer" works, so this will be a MAJOR FUNDRAISING EVENT for our programs and services!
Each volunteer will receive admittance to the Open on the day they are working, free parking and a free meal at the concession with beverages. Volunteers can wander the golf course before of after their shift.
Our tent will be located on the 13th Fairway! Volunteers will be required to prepare and serve a limited food menu as well as operate a cash register.
Volunteers must be 16 and older & will be asked to attend a 1-hour training session, in mid-May, prior to the Open.
Won't you please help S.S.C.G.C. and sign up for one (or more) of our available shifts? Shifts will be assigned on a first request basis.
Feel free to sign-up with family members and/or friends. The more volunteers, the more funds raised to serve families on Nassau County's South Shore struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues.
Thank you in advance for making this event a success!
