2008 Heroes From The Heart Gala

I would like to thank each of my fellow board members for their continued support of South Shore Child Guidance Center. A huge debt of gratitude goes out to each of you for all that you have done to help us reach our goals during this past year. 

One of this year's past highlights was our "2008 Heroes from the Heart Gala" held on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Coral House located in Baldwin New York. Funds raised at the Gala benefited the Center's efforts to continue to provide treatment programs to children and families in Nassau County.  Special thank you to our Event Chair, and Vice President, Susan Malise ( and, of course her tag team member, Murray).  Thanks to Susan's dedication and huge committment, our event was a success.  Adding to the success of the event were our volunteers, staff members and committee members who were our true saviors.

Funds raised through our Gala benefited the Center’s continuing efforts to provide treatment programs to children and families in Nassau County.  Susan’s contagious enthusiasm, coupled with her tenacity was paramount to the success of the event.  Special thank you to board member and Gala Vice Chair, Elizabeth Urena de Checo, whose warm smile and zeal was also instrumental to the success of the event. 

The Guidance Center was extremely proud to honor this years “Heroes from the Heart” Dr. Luis O. Herera, who has made a life-long commitment toward helping make every child and parent comfortable while in his care,  Dr. Flora Morente, who continues to set the standard as an outstanding mental health professional , and our very own local hero, Elaine Roman, whose dedication towards our center has set her as its heartbeat!
